Corvus Energy expands service support for Brazil’s growing offshore sector with Belga Marine

Corvus Energy, global market leader in marine energy storage systems, has entered into a strategic partnership with Belga Marine, a distinguished maritime and offshore service provider based in Brazil, to deliver specialized local support, expert aftermarket battery system services, and on-the-ground spare parts storage to efficiently meet the needs of Brazil’s expanding fleet of battery-powered Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs).

Fast-growth Region for Offshore Energy and Battery-powered Vessels

Brazil is at the center of global offshore energy-sector growth—both traditional oil and gas projects and emerging renewable initiatives—driven by rising exploration and production demand, including equatorial margin expansion and new deepwater and ultra-deepwater exploration.

The country now boasts its largest-ever OSV fleet, with nearly 500 vessels currently in operation and many more anticipated in the near future. Notably, Petrobras is investing substantially in both decommissioning outdated assets and renewing the fleet, with over 40 new ships projected to enter service from 2027 onward.

Worldwide, hundreds of OSVs rely on Corvus Energy Storage Systems, including several hybrid vessels operating in Brazil. In line with growth projections for the Brazilian offshore sector, this number is expected to increase. To provide comprehensive service support for existing and upcoming vessels, Corvus Energy is partnering with Belga Marine.

Belga Marine and ScanReach partner to bring real-time crew safety to Brazil’s expanding offshore fleet

Brazil’s maritime and offshore sector is entering a period of significant expansion, with Petrobras continuing to invest in the renewal and expansion of its support vessel fleet, adding to an existing fleet of more than 400 vessels.

As the market gains momentum, Belga Marine is proud to announce a new partnership with ScanReach, a leading provider of wireless IoT connectivity solutions for the maritime and offshore industries. The partnership will bring advanced wireless technologies to the Brazilian market, helping vessel owners and operators improve crew safety, operational efficiency, and sustainability through real-time connectivity and data insights.

ScanReach’s innovative platform enables real-time personnel visibility, as well as monitoring of equipment, cargo, and sensors across vessels and offshore assets. By providing reliable wireless communication in complex steel environments, operators gain greater visibility and control over their operations, resulting in enhanced safety, improved performance, and more informed decision-making.

We’re proud to bring ScanReach’s innovative solutions to the Brazilian market and support the digital transformation of the maritime and offshore sectors. This partnership reflects a shared vision of creating smarter, safer, and more connected operations while unlocking new opportunities for efficiency and innovation across the industry,” says Jan Lomholdt, CEO of Belga Marine.

Technology Designed for Maritime and Offshore Operations

ScanReach’s platform is engineered specifically for the challenge that has historically limited maritime IoT: reliable wireless communication inside steel-intensive environments. Rather than replacing existing systems, ScanReach connects to them — the platform provides real-time POB and asset visibility through an open API architecture, so operators decide how the data is used and which systems it feeds, instead of being locked into a closed vendor ecosystem.

For Brazilian operators scaling their fleets quickly, that matters in two ways: deployment doesn’t require cabling or dry-dock time, so new vessels and retrofits can be equipped without disrupting operations; and the data — crew location, equipment status, fuel and environmental readings — plugs directly into whatever fleet management or reporting systems operators already run.

“Keeping crews safe starts with knowing exactly where every person is, at all times. That’s what real-time location management delivers — continuous awareness across the entire vessel, not periodic checks or fixed muster points. It’s next-generation maritime safety. Underneath it is a scalable, vendor-agnostic IoT network, built to reach into the steel-heavy spaces of a vessel where standard Wi-Fi struggles, so operators get that awareness everywhere it matters. Together with Belga Marine, we’re bringing that combination of proven technology and local expertise to Brazil’s offshore fleet for the first time,” says Sven Brooks, ScanReach’s CEO.

Bringing Digital Transformation to Brazil

As Brazil’s maritime and offshore sectors continue to evolve, the partnership between Belga Marine and ScanReach aims to support the industry’s digital transformation by delivering innovative, scalable, and future-ready connectivity solutions.
